My opinion:

Chai Chuan Tou means "charcoal ship bow" in Chinese. This Tiong Bahru hawker stall sells traditional Singapore duck rice and kway chap. For this food review, I have tasted their kway chap for lunch.

There were half a marinated egg, 3 pieces of pork skin, 6 pieces of pork meat, 6 slices of pig intestines, 6 pieces of tau pok and small amount of rice sheets. With the exception of egg and tau pok, all the food items were either too small or did not soak up on the goodness of the braising stock.

Egg was delicious and well marinated. Pork skin was chewy and soft. Pig intestines were fresh, well cleaned and did not have any fatty portions. Pork meat was average tasting and slightly too rough.

Rice sheets were silky smooth and did not break apart easily. Soup was a bit too oily and devoid of herbal taste.

To sum up, the food here may be cheap but it was also severely lacking in essential ingredients and could not satisfy my monthly craving for kway chap. Unless you are a hardcore kway chap fan with a super small appetite, my advice is to give this stall a miss and visit other stalls in the same food centre for tastier food alternatives.
