My opinion:

This Haig Road hawker stall specializes and excels in traditional Singapore Chinese noodles including claypot noodles and lor mee. For this food review, my family has tried out their laksa and wanton noodles. The female owners were generous and kind enough not to charge us additional costs for the plastic takeaway containers.

Laksa:

There were 10 cockles, 6 fish cake slices, 2 tau pok pieces, half a marinated egg and moderate amount of rice noodles in our takeaway packet. Cockles were fresh, juicy but small sized. Tau pok was tasty and soaked up on the laksa soup. Marinated egg was appetizing and soft. Although the laksa soup was plentiful and warm, my mother complained that it was a bit too thin.

Wanton noodles:

There were 6 wantons, 5 char siew slices, a few minced meat and huge amount of noodles in our food portion. Wantons were average tasting, dry and not crunchy enough. Wanton skin mixed well with the meat ingredients and did not tore apart easily. Char siew slices were lean and did not have any charred portions. Minced meat was too little to have any significant impact on the food's flavor or ratings.

Although the noodles were plentiful and well cooked, they were not springy or "QQ" enough. Sauce was a bit watery and did not combine well with the noodles. Chili was so "weak" that I could use the word "nonexistent" to describe it. Green chili slices were considered "missing in action".

In conclusion:

The food here was abundant, cheap, delicious and had a few flaws that prevented this stall from greatness. Unless you are a super nit fussy foodie, Modern Cooked Food should be able to satisfy your hunger and the craving for Chinese noodles.

Ways for the owners to improve their food ratings:

Make the laksa soup thicker, add chestnuts to the wantons and review the noodle sauce's preparation process.
