My opinion:
Lao Tan has been selling traditional Singapore dim sum since 1949. Their signature tutu kuehs come in 5 flavors: coconut, original, peanut, chocolate and red bean. Handmade ingredients of this slowly disappearing Singapore snack include grounded peanuts, rice flour and sweet coconut. For this food review, my family has tried their coconut tutu kuehs and muah chees for tea break.
Coconut tutu kuehs: The kuehs were small sized, rough and too dry. Coconut ingredients were sparse and not sweet enough. My mother had no craving for more tutu kuehs after finishing her food portion.
Muah Chees: There were 23 muah chees in our takeaway packet. The dim sum was addictive, chewy, mildly sweet, warm and filled with peanut goodness (major plus points).
In conclusion: Lao Chen's signature tutu kuehs did not leave up to the hype while their muah chees help to push up their overall food ratings.
