My opinion:
Yuan Yang means "mandarin ducks" or "loving couples" in Chinese. This Albert Centre hawker stall specializes in traditional Singapore yong tau foo. For this food review, I have tasted their curry yong tau foo set meal with rice for lunch.
There were 3 fishballs, 3 fish cakes, 3 yong tau foo, 2 wuxiang, 1 tau pok, 1 bowl of curry and 1 bowl of rice in my food portion. Crab sticks, cuttlefish, ladies fingers and lettuce are considered "missing in action" (which did not bother me too much). All the food items were fresh, highly addictive, homemade and soaked up on the curry goodness. Their fishballs were chewy, delicious, juicy, tasted like soft "Fuzhou fishballs" and the best that I have eaten in recent years (major plus points).
Although the curry was flavorful and not too oily, it was too light and did not mix well with white rice. This type of watery curry was more suited for bee hoon and yellow noodles.
To sum up, the food here was economical, tasty and had a few flaws that prevented the stall from greatness. If you are a fan of yong tau foo, their fishballs are definite "must tries" in your Bugis food adventures.
Ways for the owners to improve their food ratings:
Make the curry thicker for rice meals.
