My opinion:

Tuck Kee specializes in traditional Singapore roasted delicacies. For this food review, my mother and I have tried their char siew and roasted pork rice for $3.00. Although the price was cheap, the owners were very generous in giving out ingredients. There were 12 char siew slices, 8 roasted pork slices and moderate amount of rice in our takeaway packet.

All the meat items were small sized and thinly cut. Although the char siew slices were devoid of charred or fatty portions, they were slightly too rough and tough. Pork meat was addictive, delicious, well roasted and among the best that I have tasted in recent months (major plus points). Pork skin was moist, soft and not crispy enough. Chili was robust, spicy and mixed well with the meat items.

The food's weak point lied in the sauce. It was awkward tasting, greasy, pungent, watery and totally ruined my appetite. In fact, the sauce was so bad that my mother refused to help me finish up the food.

In a nutshell, the food here was economical, plentiful but badly let down by the below average sauce. Therefore, we will advise our blog readers to try out their roasted pork rice but ask the friendly aunties not to add sauce to the food.

Ways for the owners to improve their food ratings:

Check the char siew meat and thoroughly review the sauce's preparation process.
