My opinion:

Hock Gooi stands for "luck and prosperity" in Chinese. This stall sells traditional Singapore curry rice and mixed vegetable rice. If you cannot find their stall, just look for the one that has the longest queue in Golden Shoe Food Centre. The price of their curry char siew set meal, curry braised pork set meal and curry pork cutlet set meal is $2.50 each. The cost of their curry chicken wing set meal is $3.00 each and usually sell out by 13:00 (1 p.m).

For this food review, I have tried their curry pork cutlet rice for lunch. The owners were extremely generous with ingredients. I was given 8 pork cutlets, 4 pieces of tau pok and curry cabbages. Pork cutlets were juicy, tender and warm. Tau pok was huge and soaked with curry goodness. Cabbages were addictive, soft and melt with each bite (major plus points). Rice was well cooked and did not have sticky problems. Curry was flavorful and mixed nicely with the other food ingredients.

After a few disasters with Redhill curry rice stalls, I am very happy to uncover a rare food "diamond" in Raffles Place. If you are a curry rice fan, you must visit Hock Gooi and fulfill your "food pilgrimage".
