Review of Fu Xing Ji 福兴记

Updated: The stall's rating has been reduced from 75/100 to 70/100. Both fried carrot cake and fried kway teow lacked essential ingredients.

My opinion:

Fu Xing Ji sells traditional Singapore fried carrot cake, fried kway teow and fried omelette. It is the only stall that sells fried carrot cake in the entire hawker centre (monopoly).

I decided to try out their fried carrot cake for dinner. The owners were generous in giving me 2 shrimps but stingy in the egg ingredients. The taste was uneven with certain portions nicely fried while others were left relatively "untouched". The fried carrot cake had a distinct seafood flavor (major plus point) but was too dry. I will advise potential customers to buy a cup of beverage first before trying their fried food. Overall, their food is good but had some significant flaws that prevented them from getting a rating higher than 75/100.

Recently, I visited Fu Xing Ji again and tasted their fried kway teow. This stall's rating has been reduced from 75/100 to 70/100. The food lacked cockles and sweet black sauce flavor. The only compliment I could give was that this was the "healthiest" and least oily fried kway teow in Bedok.

Ways for the owners to improve their food ratings:

Add more flavor and ingredients to the food.
