My opinion:

Zhong Guo Qi Wei means "strange tastes of the middle kingdom" in Chinese. This Bedok South coffee shop specializes in traditional Singapore herbal soup. For this food review, I have tried their watercress pork rib soup with rice for lunch.

There were 6 pieces of pork ribs, 1 bowl of soup, 1 bowl of rice and huge amount of watercress in my food portion. Pork ribs ranged from small to medium in sizes. Certain pork rib pieces were juicy, soft and tender while others were rough and tough to bite (inconsistent). Pork rib bones were soft enough that I could chew and swallow them.

Watercress was fresh, healthy, plentiful, well cooked and not too soft. Soup was flavorful, light and not too oily. Although the rice did not have sticky problems, they were "grainy" and did not mix well with the other food ingredients.

To sum up, the food here was economical, fulfilling and had a few flaws that prevented me from visiting them in the near future. If you are a herbal soup fan living in Bedok South, my advice is to order their pork rib soup but leave the 50 cent rice meal alone.

Ways for the owners to improve their food ratings:

First, find out the reason behind the pork ribs' roughness problem. Second, add more pork ribs for future customers. Third, review the rice's preparation process.
