My opinion:

Soon Mong means "smooth sailing and plentiful" in Chinese. This Fengshan hawker stall specializes in duck related food. I am very surprised this stall is not famous or well-blogged in the cyber world. For this food review, I have tried out their braised duck rice for $3.00.

There were 9 pieces of duck meat and moderate amount of rice in my takeaway packet. The duck meat was addictive, juicy, medium sized, soft, tender and one of the best that I ever tasted from Singapore hawker stalls (major plus points). Honestly, the duck meat sold in most restaurants paled in comparison with Soon Mong's food products. Their rice was delicious, fragrant, well cooked and mixed well with the braising sauce.

In conclusion, this stall was an "oasis" in a food centre filled with mediocre stalls. In fact, I would give Song Mong a rating of 95/100 had the owners included some tau kwa or half a marinated egg in my $3.00 food portion. But what more could I demand for 3 dollars in Singapore today? If you are duck rice fan living in Singapore east, this stall is a definite "must visit".

Ways for the owners to improve their food ratings:

Add some peanuts, tau kwa or yam to the food.
