My opinion:
Hong Xing means "greatness and prosperity" in Chinese. They specializes in traditional Singapore Chinese noodles. For this food review, I have tried their fishball and minced meat noodles for lunch.
The owners were extremely generous with ingredients. I was given 5 fish cakes, 2 fishballs, 1 meat ball, 1 dumpling, 1 bowl of soup, minced meat and moderate amount of noodles. The amount of food was enough to satisfy the hunger of 2 young children. Fish cakes and fishballs were fresh and did not have a pungent taste. Meat ball was delicious and juicy. Minced meat was plentiful but average tasting. The lone dumpling lacked meat ingredients and its skin was a bit too rough.
Chili was hot and sticky, perfect for noodle meals. Noodles were delicious, fragrant and had the right texture. The only problem with the noodles was the lack of noodle sauce. My tongue became a "hot desert" after a few mouthful of the noodles. Luckily, the mild tasting soup was able to solve this minor flaw.
In conclusion, the food here was cheap and shiok. The owners are advised to add a small amount of noodle sauce to the food. It will not cost them much and can greatly increase the flavor of the noodles or solve the dryness issues. If you are a fishball and minced meat noodles fan, this stall is strongly recommended by my website. I will also visit this stall regularly to check for consistency.
